Money is a source of pain and misery. This world, built around money, is unreal. Everything is an illusion in this world.
A word of caution: It’s a trap. If you seek wealth, you will be guilty of all sorts of vices in order to amass wealth. You lose all peace of mind and have no sleep, due to the thought of how to earn money. You take bribes and keep the money safe. You do not get sleep even now and spend the time in watching over your lavish property with constant anxiety. Just as a bird is caught in a net, the pursuit of wealth traps the pursuer. Wealth cannot give happiness. It is Jada Maya. It makes one forget God completely. It drags one to the lower regions of life. The mind is not calm at any time. Money destroys all divine qualities.
Desire for wealth is the cause of rebirths and all sorts of pains, miseries and sorrows on this earth. Desire is like a sharp pointed sword. Desire for wealth penetrates the hearts of people and gives them sufferings for nothing. One day you find a robber snatched away your wealth. You pine away with grief and lose health, wealth and everything, until you become wiser!
The Money and Ego spell is hard to break.
Egoism deludes people. Money uses Ego. Though the world is nothing, it deceives the worldly person into thinking that Money and Ego is everything. Money and Ego is associated with ‘mine-ness’. Desires multiply and expand on account of egoism. This egoism is born of Avidya (Ignorance). It springs from conceit. Vanity fosters it. Egoism is the greatest enemy ever known.
The Atman alone is real. The Yogi alone is saved, making haste to utilize this precious life, striving to attain the ultimate goal of ethics of life.
The secret to happiness is the renunciation of the Ego. Those who are free from egoism are ever happy and peaceful.
Meditate. If the constant searching of the mind is annihilated through, meditation, discernment and inquiry towards the higher Self, all pains along with reliance of this material world will vanish.
Time is more precious than money. – Swami Sivananda
